Speaking part 3: Robots

1. Do you know something about robots?

Since I cannot speak for everyone, I suppose there are various reasons why people need to own a computer.

For some people, computers are an essential tool that helps with productivity in their work. They use computers to send emails, write documents or so on. For others, computers can be a means of entertainment as it gives them access to the internet which allows them to watch movies or use social networking sites such as Facebook or Twitter. 

Overall, I would say that computers have become an indispensable part of our modern life, serving multiple functions to meet people’s diverse needs. 

2. Why do people often have problems when using new products?

In my opinion, people normally encounter difficulties trying new products because they may not be familiar with how to operate them. As new features are often introduced along with the new products, it is hard for customers to instantly understand how the products work and what functions they can perform. Therefore, it requires users to read the manual carefully to find clear instructions and comprehend how to use the products. For example, new versions of televisions nowadays possess access to the internet, so for users who’ve never had the chance to use interactive tv, it will be a bit of a challenge for them to figure out how to use their new cutting-edge equipment.

3. How do people learn to use equipment?

Like I mentioned earlier, it’s advisable to read the manual attached with the equipment the first time we use them. I would say that most information users need is included in the manual, and they just need to take some time to comprehend the little guide book they have. Besides, I think we can find almost anything on the internet, so it’s not hard to see detailed instructions in the form of text or video tutorials on platforms like technology forums or just Youtube. 

4. Why do some people don’t know how to solve these problems?

I think people who struggle with technology are mostly from the older generation like my parents or grandparents. It’s pretty understandable as when people get older, it’s hard for them to learn something new, especially things that are sophisticated like modern electronic devices. Also, some manuals use terms that sound pretty alien to ordinary users with no background knowledge in technology.
